IT Departments biggest problem is mobile device management, with the range and variety of SmartPhone and Tablets, control is a critical issue.  Back in the good old days when you could simply ask for a BlackBerry SmartPhone and get it in ‘black’, it was easy, as the BlackBerry BES gave control of IT policies and device deployment.

Now you have business mobile users requesting or bringing to work all manner of devices, gone are the days of companies being able to issue Nokia or more recently BlackBerry Business Mobiles, now users want other SmartPhones and Tablets, with apple and Android OS being the most common platforms.  But what is not often know to key decision makers, that is until it is too late, that these devices have little or no control and management, effectively meaning you company data can be being viewed by anyone, this is why your need a mobile device management system!

BlackBerry themselves announced BlackBerry Mobile Fusion, which is set to launch later this year, offering you the ability to manage BlackBerry SmartPhones, BlackBerry Tablets, but also apple iPhones and apple iPads, with even Andorid SmartPhones and Andoird Tablets to be included for good measure.

BlackBerry mobile device management will be inclusive, as with the BES and BESX product lines, with the rest having a small licencing charge, predcits tobe around £5 per deivce per month, but with a client residing on these devices to enable the IT department to make sure they are secure and also restrict what users can and cannot do on them.

This and other products, which are currently in the market, allow you to manage devices and policies from a single place, with drag and drop group and user policies, create white list applications and with BlackBerry devices, automatically push to the devices the applications you want the users to have.

This is a topic we have covered in a number of previous Blog posts and we believe will be a huge area going forward as it has never been more important to make sure our end users and data is being held and used with security in mind.  Especially since we are seeing more and more companies look to apple and Andorid devices, but think nothing of how they can protect these, believing that they are secure enough as they stand, a mistake which has already costs some companies tens of thousands of pounds.
