Automated Metre Reading

Automated Meter Reading (AMR) is a special case of Field Service that warrants its own category.

The fleets of vehicles and personnel now engaged in reading utility meters at homes, offices and factories can be replaced entirely by Machine 2 Machine technology – aka -telemetry-equipped meters that phone in the readings automatically. This is particularly appropriate in a deregulated market.
